Responsibilities

• Inspect and load coils onto the unwinder and feed through lubricator to the press.
• Set up, maintain, and operate upender, unwinder, lubricator, and cupping press.
• Oversee body makers, trimmers, and conveying systems setup and operation.
• Monitor can specs: flange wall thickness, mid-wall, dome depth, trim height.
• Perform visual inspections and cup weight checks for quality.
• Take corrective actions to maintain quality and production flow.
• Assist in other production areas as needed; complete paperwork.

Job Description

Position Overview:

Front End Maintainers are responsible for initiating the can making process (set up, operation and maintenance of the cupping press, body makers, trimmers, and conveying systems).

Duties And Responsibilities

• Inspect, upend, and load coils onto the unwinder, ensuring proper feeding through the lubricator and into the press.
• Perform setup, maintenance, and operation of the upender, unwinder, lubricator, and cupping press.
• Oversee the setup, maintenance, and operation of body makers, trimmers, and conveying systems.
• Monitors and record can specifications in the system, including flange wall thickness, mid-wall thickness, dome depth, and trim can height.
• Conduct visual inspections and cup weight checks to ensure compliance with production standards.
• Take corrective measures as necessary to maintain quality.
• Assist in other production areas as needed to ensure can flow through the plant.
• Complete required paperwork, including coil logs, check sheets, and other documentation.
• Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• Working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Exhibits effective problem-solving and troubleshooting methods.
• Basic knowledge of how electrical components work.
• Ability to use precision measurement devices (i.e. calipers, micrometers and dial indicators).
• Ability to demonstrate a strong understanding of applicable safety regulations, reinforcing a culture where safety is the top priority.
