Job summary

North Shore Steel is seeking a Beveler - Track Torch Operator to produce precision beveled plate components using portable track torch equipment and oxy-fuel cutting. You will convert raw steel into production-ready parts meeting exact specs while upholding safety, quality and productivity.

Requires 5+ years in steel fabrication, strong blueprint reading and bevel geometry skills, and the ability to adjust cutting parameters for right-first-time results.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience operating oxy-fuel beveling, burning or plate-processing equipment in steel fabrication or heavy industrial environments.
• Ability to independently read and interpret complex blueprints and fabrication drawings.
• Strong understanding of bevel geometry, weld preparation requirements, and dimensional tolerances.
• Proven ability to adjust cutting parameters, torch settings, gas pressures, travel speeds and consumables to achieve quality results.
• Experience working with thick plate materials and maintaining quality on customer-critical work.
• Strong math skills: fractions, decimals, measurements, and angles.
• Must be able to work day shift starting at 6 a.m., Monday–Friday (overtime as needed).

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate portable track torch beveling equipment for production runs.
• Lay out steel plate and determine proper positioning for bevel cutting operations.
• Verify material grade, thickness, dimensions and job requirements prior to processing.
• Monitor cutting operations and adjust for quality and productivity.
• Coordinate with material handlers and crane operators to load, position and unload material safely.
• Read and interpret blueprints, verify bevel angles and tolerances against requirements.
• Adjust cutting parameters to achieve required results and ensure right-first-time production.
