Job summary

Thorlabs, a leader in photonics components and systems, seeks an Assembly Technician to join our Newton, NJ team. You will assemble and test products using a range of equipment, following drawings and work instructions to meet strict quality standards.

The role requires soldering experience, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across production functions. Minimum 3 years in a similar role is preferred; a soldering certification is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position preferred.
• Experience in soldering required.
• Soldering Certification required.
• Strong attention to detail and precision.
• Ability to work in a group and meet quality standards.
• Ability to shift between tasks to address production priorities.
• Basic math skills and familiarity with MS Office.
• Familiar with standard parts, tools and test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble components and products and test to high quality standards.
• Read work instructions, drawings and schematics and follow timelines.
• Assemble, clean, inspect and test using equipment.
• Cross-train to support production operations.
• Examine parts for defects and maintain records and reports.
• Set up or calibrate equipment and ensure safe working environment.
