Job summary

Aerotek is seeking an Aerospace Assembly Technician for a contract-to-hire role in Decatur, AL. You will perform precision mechanical assembly of close-tolerance aerospace components in a dedicated machine shop, following engineering drawings and quality standards.

Responsibilities include riveting, nut plate and insert installation, heating coil handling, and meticulous inspection using calipers and micrometers to ensure conformance with aerospace specs.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in mechanical assembly within a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
• Experience with aerospace assembly involving precision and close-tolerance components.
• Proficiency in assembling aerospace hardware with attention to engineering drawings.
• Ability to work with precision machined components and tight tolerances.
• Experience installing nut plates and related aerospace hardware.
• Riveting experience including inspection of rivets for aerospace apps.
• Keensert/Keysert and other threaded insert installation experience.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and finish precision aerospace components in a machine shop using established processes.
• Perform precision assembly of close-tolerance parts per drawings and specs.
• Install nut plates and hardware with proper fit and torque.
• Carrying out riveting operations to aerospace quality requirements.
• Install and torque threaded inserts (Keenserts, Keyserts, Helicoils).
• Handle heating coils per assembly instructions and drawings.
• Read blueprints to determine assembly sequence and tolerances.
• Adhere to torque specs and use hand/power tools for proper tightening.
• Use calipers, micrometers for measurement and verification.
• Inspect assembled components for conformance to aerospace standards.
