Responsibilities

• Handles precertification procedures by collecting insurance information and entering data into SMS.
• Utilizes Insurance Eligibility Verification system and explains process to patients.
• Verifies insurance benefits/coverage by contacting insurance companies.
• Obtains insurance information for precertification for procedures.
• Schedules patients.
• Requests and retrieves medical records and pathology reports from HUMC, other hospitals, clinics, or physician's offices.
• Enters data to ensure integrity of patient history and appointment files.
• Schedules all appointments and provides daily departmental schedule for transport and security.
• Collects co-pays and deductibles and posts in the finance system.
• Processes all requests for medical records.
• Identifies patient population needs and communicates accordingly.
