Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Precertification and Scheduling Coordinator to collaborate with referring physician practices, verify patient insurance, obtain precertifications, and schedule appointments in line with department guidelines.

The role requires a high school diploma, experience with health insurance verifications, and strong computer and medical terminology knowledge. It supports multiple clinics and coordinates with HUMC and partner facilities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience with obtaining health insurance verifications and precertification procedures.
• Proficient in computer skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Handle precertification procedures by collecting insurance information and entering into the system.
• Utilize Insurance Eligibility Verification system and explain the process to patients.
• Verify insurance benefits/coverage by contacting insurers.
• Obtain insurance information for precertification for procedures.
• Schedule patients and maintain appointment calendars.
• Request and retrieve medical records and pathology reports from HUMC, other hospitals, clinics, or physicians’ offices.
• Enter data to ensure patient history and appointment files are accurate.
• Collect co-pays and deductibles and post in finance system per policies.
• Process requests for medical records.
• Communicate with patients at appropriate level considering age, culture, and language needs.
• Adhere to organizational competencies.
