Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System in the Olathe area is seeking a Precertification Specialist for the Olathe Medical Pavilion to manage pre-registration, pre-certification, and registration data accuracy. The role involves verifying insurance coverage, obtaining authorizations, and coordinating with payers, employers, and clinical teams.

Responsibilities include data entry, MSPQ completion when appropriate, and securing accounts per policy, with a Monday–Friday 8:30am–5:00pm schedule.

Qualifications

• Epic experience preferred.
• Experience in pre-registration or pre-certification is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for patient interactions.

Responsibilities

• Works reports daily to retrieve un-contacted patients prior to service.
• Utilizes worklists to pre-register / pre-certify hospital services.
• Conducts telephone interviews to elicit demographic information and third-party payer data.
• Enters patient data directly into registration systems.
• Verifies MSPQ when appropriate.
• Verifies third party payer eligibility, co-payment, deductible amounts, and address.
• Complies with Medicare / Medicaid and other insurance rules.
• Coordinates with clinics and financial advisors on potential insurance issues.
• Notifies providers of any restrictions denying services and initiates required actions.
