Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Precast Concrete Inspector I to perform plant quality control on precast and prestressed concrete. You will inspect forms and reinforcement, verify strand tensioning records, run fresh concrete tests, cast cylinders, and inspect finished pieces for dimensions and defects before shipment.

PCI Level I is required or must be earned shortly after joining; ACI Field Testing Grade I with plant experience qualifies you to start.

Qualifications

• PCI Level I Certification required, or must be earned within first months.
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Grade I with plant experience qualifies you to start.
• Reads shop drawings and tensioning calculations.
• Comfortable with plant hours and an early production schedule.
• Consistent, careful, and honest with the numbers.

Responsibilities

• Inspect forms, reinforcement, embeds, and blockouts against shop drawings before each pour.
• Verify strand tensioning elongation and force records against calculated values.
• Run fresh concrete tests (slump, air, temperature, unit weight) and cast cylinders per ASTM C31.
• Perform stripping and release strength breaks and compare to required values.
• Inspect finished products for dimensions, camber, finish, and defects; tag for shipment or repair.
• Travel between plants on a project basis with per diem as assigned.
