Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Precast Concrete Inspector I to perform plant QC on precast and prestressed concrete. You will check forms and reinforcement before pours, verify strand tensioning records, run fresh concrete tests, cast cylinders, and inspect finished pieces for dimensions and defects before shipment.

The role requires PCI Level I or ACI Grade I certification, or the ability to earn PCI/ACI certifications after hire; travel between plants with per diem may apply.

Qualifications

• PCI Quality Control Personnel Certification Level I, or ACI Grade I with 1+ year precast/prestressed plant experience.
• Reads shop drawings and tensioning calculations.
• Comfortable with plant hours and early production schedules.
• Consistent, careful, and honest with numeric data.

Responsibilities

• Inspect forms, reinforcement, embeds, and blockouts against shop drawings before each pour.
• Verify strand tensioning elongation and force records against calculated values.
• Run fresh concrete tests (slump, air, temperature, unit weight) and cast cylinders per ASTM C31.
• Perform stripping and release strength tests and record them against the required values.
• Inspect finished products for dimensions, camber, finish, and defects; tag for shipment or repair.
