Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Precast Concrete Inspector I to perform plant quality control on precast and prestressed concrete, inspecting forms, reinforcement, and strands before pours. You will run fresh concrete tests, cast cylinders, and verify tensioning records to ensure compliance with shop drawings and specs.

The role requires PCI Level I or ACI Grade I qualifications and a driver’s license, with travel between plants and early shifts as part of the weekly rhythm.

Qualifications

• PCI Level I certification or ACI Grade I with precast plant experience.
• Ability to read shop drawings and perform tensioning calculations.
• Comfort with early production schedules and plant hours.
• Consistent attention to numbers and data accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Inspect forms, reinforcement, embeds, and blockouts against shop drawings before each pour.
• Verify strand tensioning elongation and force records against calculated values.
• Run fresh concrete tests (slump, air, temperature, unit weight) and cast cylinders per ASTM C31.
• Inspect finished products for dimensions, camber, finish, and defects before shipment or repair.
