The Pre-admission Management Service (PreAMS) is the major portal for surgical admissions at UHNM and is essential for service optimisation within the surgical directorate. This is achieved by supporting the successful delivery of the 18-week RTT and 2WW cancer targets; contributing to the reduction of clinical risk by reducing post-operative morbidity and mortality through a comprehensive pre-operative assessment program, which includes early identification of health needs to ensure patients are appropriately listed for surgery; and contributing to improved operating theatre utilisation through a reduction in cancellations (both reportable and non-reportable). Additionally, it supports reduced length of stay and improved bed utilisation.
This is a permanent opportunity to work within the innovative field of pre-operative assessment. The post is funded as part of UHNM's Elective Recovery Program, with the aim of digitalising patient pathways and improving organisational efficiency.
We are seeking an experienced registered nurse or theatre practitioner with specialist assessment skills and a high level of clinical practice to join our nurse-led team. The successful candidate will act as an autonomous practitioner, providing direct patient care and demonstrating an enhanced level of practice and knowledge in the pre-operative management of patients.
