Job summary

Care New England is seeking a Preadmission Nurse to assess preoperative patients and develop plans to optimize pre-anesthesia care in accordance with hospital policies.

Duties include reviewing clinical data, determining required pre-op testing, coordinating paperwork, educating patients, and ensuring chart completeness. RI RN licensure, BSN, CPR, and strong communication are required; perioperative experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required.
• Current RN licensure in Rhode Island.
• Recent perioperative or peri-procedure experience preferred.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong knowledge base related to surgery procedures and management.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Reviews preoperative or pre-procedure data related to anesthesia risk.
• Determines required pre-op testing to optimize patient safety.
• Assesses preadmission test results and reports concerns to physician/anesthesia provider.
• Coordinates and reviews preoperative paperwork and medical records.
• Ensures chart completeness prior to day of surgery/procedure.
• Provides patient education and instructions for planned procedure.
• Documents patient health status in the EMR.
• Follows infection control and safety procedures.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
