Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Process Operator Technician supports renewable fuel operations. The role requires rotating shift coverage (12‑hour shifts, nights, holidays, weekends) with overtime as needed. The successful candidate will demonstrate competency in detailed operational tasks over a six‑month performance period and must pass pre‑employment screenings, including drug/alcohol, respiratory fit, pulmonary function, and audiometric tests.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Live and demonstrate the Heartwell Renewables core values
• Visually monitor computer screens and control points in a control room environment for extended periods
• Work a rotating 12‑hour shift schedule (including nights, holidays, and weekends)
• Adhere to all company safety policies and requirements
• Be available for on‑call/relief duties
• Learn refining process operations and qualify on process jobs
• Understand and operate refining process operations, product tank, and chemical unloading
• Perform periodic rounds per shift, monitor tank levels and transfers, perform tank gauging, collect process and chemical samples, monitor units, decontaminate equipment, isolate equipment (LOTO), assist in maintenance, and write work permits
• Open and close manual valves and make process adjustments
• Detect and respond to process upsets and emergency situations under direct supervision, escalating complex issues
• Complete and pass annual audiometric and respiratory fit tests
• Maintain a clean work area
• Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 18 years of age
• Valid driver’s license
• High School Diploma or GED
• Strong work ethic, communication skills, dedication, and punctuality
• Willingness to perform incipient fire response and other emergency response activities as trained
• Willingness to work rotating shift schedule and overtime as required
• Fit to perform essential functions in an industrial environment with loud equipment, extreme temperatures, dust, confined spaces, and chemical/atmospheric hazards; appropriate PPE required
• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, lift minimum 40 lbs, climb ladders, stairs, and work from elevated platforms
• Adhere to a strict Drug and Alcohol policy
• Read, write, speak, and understand English for job duties
• Basic math, reading, writing, verbal, and basic computer skills
• Other minimum qualifications may apply

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES:

• Vocational technical training in petrochemical/manufacturing or related field
• Waste water license
• Experience with DCS operation (DeltaV, iFix, Control Logix, SCADA, other HMI programs)
• Instrumentation knowledge and experience
• Experience in process operational/maintenance craft area, stable experience in agricultural, industrial or commercial industry
• Experience with Renewable/Bio Diesel, Steam Reformation, Vegetable Oil Refining, Oil and Gas Industry, Wastewater Treatment, Boiler operations, Utility operations, Hydro Processing, or a PSM regulated facility
