Job Summary:

The Assistant Teacher/Floater assists the Lead Teacher and/or Teacher in a classroom. May or may not be assigned to a specific classroom and will help in other classrooms as needed. Supervises the class(es) during nap and break times when the Lead Teacher/Teacher are out of the classroom, helps with meals, safety and assists in maintaining a clean and orderly room and School. May be required to work with various age groups.

Essential Functions/Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Assists the Lead Teacher in implementing the daily program for children, including the following:
    1. Preparation and cleanup of daily programming and activities.
    2. Curriculum and child assessments.
    3. Ensure children are taught to read and write in the English language.
    4. Help children learn to think creatively, solve problems, and respect themselves and others.
  2. Understands and can articulate learning outcomes up and down.
  3. Utilizes digital technologies to communicate with parents and to facilitate intentional lesson planning.
  4. Implements and follows all proper supervision techniques as required by the company and state licensing.
  5. Guides children in a positive manner displaying friendly, affectionate, enthusiastic and caring behaviors.
  6. Supervises and facilitates the classroom and the learning, according to the plans of the Lead Teacher and/or Teacher in the absence of the Lead Teacher or Teacher.
  7. Helps with meal and snack preparation, feeding children, modeling table manners at family style meals.
  8. Assists with ensuring the classroom is organized, clean and tour ready at all times.
  9. Interacts with children on the playground/classroom taking part in activities that include bending, stooping, jumping and other physical activities as indicated under the physical requirements section.
  10. Provides exceptional customer service to the families and children we serve, which includes maintaining strict confidentiality regarding children and families.
  11. Greets every family, child and visitor who enters the school/classroom with a warm and sincere welcome. Assists parents at drop off and pick up times. Acknowledges all departing families, children and visitors with a farewell. Responds to all questions and requests in a friendly and timely manner.
  12. Works to prevent injuries and accidents; follows all procedures related to injuries and accidents if one should occur. Reports child injuries and hazards promptly to the Lead Teacher/Teacher and Director.
  13. Required to attend all staff training sessions, meetings and programs sponsored by the School; this is mandatory not optional.
  14. Participates in QRIS or accreditation goals and performs the associated classroom requirements to meet those goals where applicable.
  15. Reports suspected child abuse/neglect to local child protective agency/hotline as mandated by state law.
  16. Performs other related duties as requested by a member of management or Lead Teacher.
  17. Regular attendance is required.
  18. Responsible for daily cleaning duties which include sweeping, mopping, disposing of trash.

Supervision:

No direct reports.

Education/Experience:

Required:

  1. Must meet state licensing requirements for education and experience.
  2. Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred:

  1. Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences.
  2. Be available for full time employment and available to work as late as 7:00 pm.
  3. Previous work experience in an office environment preferred.
  4. Have dependable transportation.

Certification/Licensure:

  1. CDA preferred.
  2. CPR and First Aid certified preferred.
  3. If applicable, must maintain required units, certifications etc., as required by the state and Company.

Skills & Abilities:

  1. Must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, all essential functions of the job.
  2. Ensure the safety and well-being of each child; Be a positive role model for all care giving staff and children.
  3. Provide excellent customer service according to the standards of Ready Set Grow Learning Academy Inc. Centers.
  4. Must have knowledge and understanding of all current state and local regulations.
  5. Must be able to communicate with children, parents and staff using the English language.
