Job summary

Arista Networks in the Chicago area seeks a Pre‑Sales Network Systems Engineer to apply deep routing/switching expertise to expand the Arista brand for financial services and trading verticals. You will be a trusted advisor, work with product/software teams, and enable customers with POCs, demos, and compelling technical material.

You will collaborate with sales, engineering, and management to align solutions with client goals, develop training programs, and present findings to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years designing and implementing networking for data center, campus, Wi‑Fi, and security in financial services
  • Strong presentation and selling skills; ability to communicate complex material clearly
  • Ability to build relationships between equipment manufacturers and executives, architects, engineers and ops teams
  • Interpersonal, customer relations and problem management skills under pressure and deadlines
  • Experience creating technical materials (slides, white papers, battle cards, guides)
  • Knowledge of competitive products, solutions, and services; experience with network overlay/virtualization
  • Experience with network automation using Python and Ansible; ACE certification desired

Responsibilities

  • Act as trusted advisor to gather requirements and identify opportunities with existing and new customers
  • Own pre- and post-sales technical relationships with the assigned territory and customer base
  • Maintain deep knowledge of Arista technologies to support and enable strategic customers
  • Facilitate technical training on Arista products, differentiators, solutions and demos

  • Travel approximately 10%

Who You’ll Work With

When you join Arista as part of the Sales Engineering team, you’re not just stepping into a role; you’re becoming part of a team of industry experts and technical leaders. Typically reporting to the Regional Engineering Manager, you’ll be working alongside some of the most skilled field engineers in the industry. Our team prides itself on not just understanding the technology but also the business impact and aligning our solutions with the larger goals of our clients. In collaboration with our Product Management and Software Development teams, you will play a pivotal role in steering product developments, offerings, and strategic direction to best serve our customers and prospects. Supported by the expertise of our world class Arista TAC, cutting‑edge proof‑of‑concept resources, and support of the executive team, you are well‑positioned to lead and innovate within the industry.

What You’ll Do

Arista Networks is seeking an accomplished Pre‑Sales Network Systems Engineer who will leverage their technical expertise of mission‑critical networks and routing and switching to provide technical systems engineering support to expand the Arista brand for our customers in the Financial Services and Trading Vertical.

Responsibilities
  • The Pre‑Sales Systems Engineer is a critical component of the Arista Sales team with the key responsibility of acting as a trusted advisor for our customers and partners to gather requirements and identify opportunities with existing and new customers.
  • Own the pre and post‑sales technical relationship with the assigned territory and customer base
  • Build and maintain a deep, sound knowledge of all Arista technologies, in order to support and help in the enablement of strategic customers
  • Facilitate technical training on Arista’s products, differentiators, solutions, and demos
  • Engage with key partners to develop proficiencies in delivering services around Arista’s solution set
  • Participate in the execution of Proof of Concepts (POCs) and on‑site customer testing
  • Execute technical Quarterly Business Reviews with customer base
  • Support onsite requirements at the customer site
  • Respond to inbound questions from the customers including research and lab testing of solutions
  • Present technical content to worldwide organizations both virtually and in‑person
  • Create technical marketing materials for the global Arista organization
  • Travel expectations is approximately 10%
Qualifications

You are a driven Pre‑Sales Systems Engineer or Network Architect with a passion for acting as a technical trusted advisor for your customers. You possess in‑depth technical expertise within routing and switching including network architecture and design experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of networking design and implementation experience with a focus on Data Center, Campus, WI‑FI and Security solutions working with Financial Services customers.
  • Strong presentation and selling skills including communication of complex technical material.
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of how to build successful relationships between an equipment manufacturer and a customer base of executives, architects, engineers and operations teams.
  • Good interpersonal skills, customer relations skills, and problem management skills, with the ability to stay calm and professional under pressure while working to strict deadlines.
  • Experience creating technical material (slides, white papers, battle cards, solution guides, etc)
  • Solid knowledge of competitive products, solutions, and services.
  • Experience with Network Overlay and Virtualization is highly desired.
  • Previous experience building network automation using Python and Ansible desired.
  • Network Industry Certification including Arista Cloud Engineer (ACE) level 3‑5 desired.
Compensation Information

The new hire base pay for this role has a salary range of $130,000 to $175,000. Arista offers different pay ranges based on work location, so that we can offer consistent and competitive pay appropriate to the market. The actual base pay offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and work location. The pay range provided reflects base pay only and in addition certain roles may also be eligible for discretionary Arista bonuses and equity. Employees in Sales roles are eligible to participate in Arista’s Sales Incentive Plan, which pays commissions calculated as a percentage of eligible sales. US‑based employees are also entitled to benefits including medical, dental, vision, wellbeing, tax savings and income protection.
