Job summary

Salesforce, Inc. is seeking a Solution Engineer with a strong security and compliance background to support defense and national security customers. You will engage with CISOs, CIOs, and RMF Officials, translating complex requirements into actionable security designs and demonstrations.

The role requires knowledge of DOD/FedRAMP frameworks, the ability to travel domestically, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to shape secure cloud solutions for government customers.

The role works with sales teams and DOW/DOD customers to:
  • Understand a customer's risk, security, or compliance concerns and communicate how Salesforce's infrastructure, architecture, and application features address them
  • Apply deep knowledge of DOW-specific cyber and information security frameworks - including the DOW Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide (CSP SRG), DFARS Cyber Clauses, CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification), NIST SP 800-171, and FedRAMP - alongside broader frameworks like NIST CSF and ISO 27001/27002
  • Advise on Impact Level (IL4/IL5) authorization requirements and GCC High interoperability considerations relevant to defense and national security environments
  • Work with technical organizations within Salesforce - Technology Compliance, Technology & Product, and Engineering teams - to represent DOW/DOD requirements
  • Maintain a strong understanding of network security, cryptography, data-in-transit protections, and other technical topics needed for IT/CIO-level conversations with defense stakeholders
  • Partner with sales teams to remove security as a blocker by engaging CISOs, CIOs, RMF Authorizing Officials, and other key decision makers
  • Track emerging cybersecurity risks and DOW/DOD policy changes (e.g., CMMC Phase II developments) and translate them into customer-ready guidance
  • Scale the role through internal and external education - publishing enablement materials and leading hands-on technical workshops
Your Impact
  • Present Salesforce's cloud infrastructure and security stack, including GovSlack/Missionforce capabilities relevant to DOW/DOD missions
  • Build and present customized demos for defense and national security use cases
  • Represent Salesforce in DOW/DOD RFI and policy engagement (e.g., CMMC reform submissions)
  • Feed customer requirements back to Product Managers and Marketers to shape roadmap
  • Build deep, trusted-advisor relationships with defense agency and contractor stakeholders
  • Help customers understand how Salesforce meets DOW security and compliance mandates
  • Be comfortable engaging clients at every level, from technical staff to CIO/CTO
Requirements Minimum Qualifications
  • Degree in Computer Science required (B.S., Master's, or Ph.D.)
  • Proven Solution Engineering / pre-sales experience or equivalent (IT, product management, consulting) in a security or compliance-focused role
  • Working knowledge of DOW/DOD compliance frameworks: DOD CSP SRG, DFARS, CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, FedRAMP, DoDI 8510
  • Understanding of SaaS, multi-tenancy, and multi-tiered infrastructure architecture
  • Understanding of security processes and standards used in multi-tenant web applications (SSO, OAuth, SAML, field-level encryption, etc.)
  • Solid grasp of network, application, and information security principles
  • Strong oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any government clearance/suitability determinations required for DOW/DOD customer engagement
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically to customer sites

The typical base salary range for this position is $173,460 - $231,980 annually. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations. In California and New York, and select cities in the metropolitan areas of Boston, Chicago, Seattle, and Washington DC, the base pay range for this role in those locations is $190,750 - $255,150 per year.
