Job summary
Bastian Automation in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Pre-Sales CAD Engineer to support Sales and Commercial teams through RFQ/proposal processes. You will develop system concepts, facility layouts, and digital tools that speed up and standardize solution development, communicating intent to customers and internal stakeholders.
The role emphasizes building engineering standards, automated design tools, CAD templates, and Excel-based calculators to boost productivity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in CAD/Engineering Tech or related field.
- 5 years in manufacturing automation or material handling.
- Experience with Automotive OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.
- Proficient in VBA and Lisp routines.
- Ability to translate field measurements into functional designs and layouts.
- Knowledge of automotive manufacturing systems and automation.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate RFQ documentation and system requirements for layouts.
- Produce concept layouts for extensive material handling automation.
- Develop block libraries and programmable linked blocks.
- Advise on new design technologies to increase efficiency.
