Job description


Creighton University in Omaha, NE is seeking to hire a Pre-Professional Advisor to work in the Center for Advising Resources and Support.



Creighton's Center for Advising Resources and Support (CARS) is a collaborative hub for advising students. Responsible for pre-professional advising, campus collaboration in advising and retention, supporting usage of Creighton's student success management and advising software, and coordinating Creighton's pre-law programming. Reports to the Director of CARS.




Key Responsibilities



  • Advise pre-professional students and alumni on selecting prerequisite courses, exploring health or law professions, addressing academic concerns and developing professional school applications in group and individual settings, with primary responsibility for Pre-Law students and liaising with pre-law advisors and Creighton's Law School.

  • Assist in the implementation of the Creighton Pre-Professional Scholars Program, to include primary responsibility for CPPSP Pre-Law and student and event support with other programs.

  • Teach and lead assigned pre-professional communities for undergraduate students, creating learning objectives and assessing outcomes.

  • Coordinate the efforts in the advising the Accelerated Masters Programs, to include outreach to students and academic advisors and coordination with Enrollment Management and academic departments

  • Participate in the all-CARS shared responsibilities: individual student advising, prospective student visits and presentations; major event support.




Qualifications



  • Master's Degree required

  • Experience in academic advising or student success roles preferred

  • Excellent communication skills in writing, speaking and presenting

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook
