Job summary

UF Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to manage individualized patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation and education. The RN will work with the treatment team to coordinate care, perform exams and history taking, and deliver medications, wound care and IV therapies. Strong documentation and emergency response skills are required.

The role emphasizes adherence to OSHA guidelines and ongoing patient education, with additional duties as assigned by the department.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in nursing.
• Florida RN license.
• OR experience.
• BLS certification.
• ACLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs physical exams, health histories, nursing assessments, and routine observations.
• Administers medications, wound care, injections, IV infusions, and other treatments.
• Recognizes and responds to life-threatening emergencies with emergency drugs and defibrillation.
• Documents assessments, care provided, procedures, and updates to the patient care plan.
• Provides patient and family health education and ensures follow-up care.
• Adheres to OSHA guidelines and quality control procedures.
• All other duties assigned by department.

Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for managing the individualized patient care by promoting and restoring patients’ health through the nursing process. The RN provides direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, evaluation, and patient health education within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.

Description

• Coordinates care in collaboration with members of the patient’s treatment team to provide assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation services.


• Performs physical exams, health histories, nursing assessment and routine observation for patients within established time frames.


• Provides direct patient care including administering medications, wound care, injections, intravenous infusions and other treatment interventions while operating standard critical care equipment safely and correctly.


• Recognizes and intervenes in life threatening emergencies, including the administration of emergency drugs, and defibrillator or other emergency treatment.


• Documents patient assessment findings, care rendered, procedures performed, and other various aspects of patient plan of care making periodic updates related to the patient’s condition and response to treatment.


• Provides patient and family health education based on assessed needs for indicated health conditions, medications, overall wellness, and directions for follow up care.


• Adheres to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and quality control methods.


• All other duties assigned by department.
