Job summary

Animas Surgical Hospital in Durango, CO seeks a Registered Nurse – Pre-Admission Testing (PAT RN) to coordinate the surgical care continuum, perform comprehensive pre-operative assessments, educate patients, and ensure readiness for surgery across multidisciplinary teams.

The PAT RN serves as liaison among patients, surgeons, anesthesia, and hospital departments, ensuring compliance, patient safety, and efficient scheduling in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

Qualifications

• Graduation from accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Current RN license is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Minimum one year acute care nursing experience.
• Perioperative/pre-admission testing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive pre-operative nursing assessments and review health history, medications, allergies, and anesthesia history.
• Identify perioperative risks and communicate findings to relevant providers.
• Ensure all required pre-operative testing, consultations, documentation, and authorizations are completed.
• Coordinate education and preparation with patients and families for surgery.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
• Serve as a liaison among patients, surgeons, anesthesia, and hospital departments.
