Job summary

Balboa United, a leading nephrology group in San Diego, seeks a Medical Assistant to support physicians and patients in a fast-growing specialty practice. This full-time MA role covers clinical rooming, injections, refills, and front-office workflows to keep operations running smoothly.

Pre-med MA candidates may gain exposure to nephrology, dialysis, and transplant care, with opportunities for strong performers to receive a letter of recommendation and potential research involvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree completed or expected within one year and intent to pursue advanced healthcare degree.
• Strong academic standing and reliability for scheduled work hours.
• Preferred Medical Assistant certification and familiarity with Epic or similar EHR systems.
• Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking abilities.
• Interest in direct patient care within a specialty clinic.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, take vital signs, and prepare for provider evaluations.
• Administer IM, subcutaneous, or intradermal injections under supervision.
• Distribute patient education materials and explain care instructions.
• Process medication refill requests following clinic workflows.
• Greet/front-desk support and assist with check-in and scheduling as needed.
• Support phone lines, scheduling, chart preparation, and document management.
• Assist with other duties to support clinic operations.
