Position Summary:

The Pre-Litigation Case Manager is responsible for managing a caseload of 115-135 personal injury cases, ensuring that clients receive consistent service and medical treatment in accordance with their doctor’s prescribed plans. The Case Manager will maintain frequent communication with clients to provide case updates and answer questions, while also managing the collection and review of medical records and bills. They will draft demand letters, address liability issues, and ensure that case management data is accurately maintained in the system (FileVine). The role also requires strong teamwork with case assistants, oversight of case progress, and proactive issue resolution. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in personal injury law, particularly motor vehicle collisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage a case load of 115-135 cases
  • Delivers client service while maintaining a strong focus on client medical treatment to ensure clients are compliant with plan prescribed by treating doctors, contacting clients every two weeks to discuss case updates, medical treatment status, and to answer questions
  • Take ownership over client files for review with Attorney
  • Develop cases according to policy; work diligently and proactively to address liability issues; draft liability, personal injury protection and uninsured motorist demand letters
  • Acquire and review medical and billing records throughout the treatment phase of each case
  • Accurately maintain case management data in the case management system (FileVine)
  • Work with case assistant to create a cooperative team environment ensuring all policies and procedures are followed through to completion.
  • Professional appearance and behavior
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills on the phone, in person and email
  • Experience maintaining a high degree of discretion dealing with confidential information
  • Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and critical thinking abilities
  • Proficient in personal injury law involving motor vehicle collisions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Case Management software (FileVine preferred)
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years in a similar role
  • Pre-litigation case management and negotiation is a plus
  • Experience supervising and managing other team members
  • High school diploma or GED; college degree is a plus
  • Paralegal certification is a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Office environment with normal business hours necessary to satisfactorily perform job functions.
  • Stand/Sit – Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time.
  • Walk – This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, meeting rooms, office machinery, etc.
  • Use of hands/fingers to handle or feel – constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine/printer.
  • Climbs stairs – May occasionally ascends/descends the stairs to get to other floors, cafeteria and parking area.
  • Carry weight/lift - Occasionally moves supplies weighing up to 10 pounds for various presentation and event needs.
