Job Responsibilities
  • Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the assigned subject area(s) to support their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, tailored to students' maturity and interests.
  • Prepare lessons with accommodations for individual differences and show evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Encourage positive classroom behavior and establish clear behavioral standards.
  • Guide learning towards curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives and communicating them effectively.
  • Employ diverse instructional techniques and media suited to the physical and individual needs of students.
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide necessary reports and referrals.
  • Maintain safety and proper records as per policies and legal requirements.
  • Participate in staff development and maintain professional competence.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and the community.
  • Plan and supervise activities for teacher aides and volunteers, and evaluate their performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Meet Texas “highly qualified” standards.
  • Texas Teacher Certificate appropriate for the level and subject area (required for ESL/Bilingual, SPED, Pre-K; preferred for others).
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Proficiency with computers, software, and instructional technology.
  • Effective interview, public speaking, and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
  • Light lifting may be required.
  • Occasional night and weekend activities.
  • Work in an office setting with prolonged desk work.
  • Moderate travel required.
