Job summary

Mesquite ISD is seeking a Paraprofessional - Campus/Instructional Assistant to assist the teacher in general daily classroom activities and supervise students as needed. This is a full-time, non-exempt position beginning as soon as possible.

The role involves assisting with small group instruction, preparing materials, maintaining attendance records, and supporting classroom setup and routines as directed by the principal.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Exhibits effective working relationships with students, staff and school community.

Responsibilities

• Assist in small group pupil instruction and tutor students at teacher's request.
• Plan and implement pre-kindergarten physical education instruction based on district provided curriculum.
• Help maintain discipline and other non-instructional functions.
• Record attendance information and related clerical functions with the teacher.
• Collaborate with the teacher to set up classroom and prepare materials for specialized instructional units.
• Assemble materials for bulletin boards and keep displays current.
• Operate standard school equipment such as laminator, copier, etc.
• Escort children to and from various rooms.
• Supervise students when teacher is temporarily absent
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
