Pre-K through 5th - Classroom Teacher

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in education or related field with a valid Georgia teaching certificate.

Curriculum & Instruction
  • Teach one or more subjects in the school within the framework of the goals established by the school system
  • Demonstrate accurate, in-depth, and current knowledge of school subject matter
  • Demonstrate pedagogical skills appropriate to the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of the students
Planning & Differentiation
  • Use student learning data to inform planning
  • Plan instruction effectively for content mastery for all students
  • Develop appropriate lesson plans aligned to state, local school and district curricula and standards
Instructional Strategies
  • Utilize research-based, effective instructional strategies
  • Engage students in authentic, active learning by using a variety of methods and resources
  • Utilize effective questioning and problem solving strategies to develop higher order thinking
Student Growth & Support
  • Intentionally provide remediation, enrichment, and acceleration to develop student understanding
  • Use flexible grouping to accommodate student learning needs and goals
  • Demonstrate high learning expectations for all students based on performance levels
Assessment
  • Use formal and informal assessments aligned to standards for diagnostic, formative, and summative purposes
  • Vary and modify assessments and assessment techniques based on student needs
  • Collaborate with others to develop common assessments, when appropriate
Data & Feedback
  • Use diagnostic assessment data to develop learning goals for students, to differentiate instruction, and to document learning
  • Share accurate results of student progress with all stakeholders
  • Provide constructive feedback to students to teach them how to use meta cognitive strategies to self‑assess and measure their own progress
Classroom Environment & Behavior
  • Use positive behavior supports to establish clear expectations for rules, routines, and procedures
  • Model caring, fairness, respect and enthusiasm to create a supportive classroom
  • Promote respect and appreciation of students' diversity, including— but not limited to— race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or disability
Learning Environment
  • Provide academic rigor, encourage critical and creative thinking, and push students to achieve goals while maximizing instructional time
  • Encourage students to explore new ideas and take academic risks while conveying the message that mistakes are a valuable part of learning
  • Communicate high but reasonable expectations while encouraging productivity by providing students with appropriately challenging and relevant activities

  • Meet the performance and behavioral expectations of administration
