Job summary

Uncommon Schools in Camden is seeking a part-time Pre-K support staff member to assist teachers with instruction coverage, assessments, grading, and classroom responsibilities. The role may include teaching small groups and observing Master Teachers to improve techniques and classroom management.

Fridays involve Aftercare support with activities provided by Enrichment staff. The position emphasizes teamwork, adaptability, and strong communication with students, families, and colleagues.

  • Bachelorâs degree is preferred, but not required. A background in education is not required, though candidates should show a demonstrated passion for working with K-12 students.

Responsibilities

  • Directly report to the Pre-K Director
  • Assist teachers with instruction coverage (including Enrichment classrooms), assessments, grading, and other classroom responsibilities;
  • Potentially teach small groups of students;
  • Observe Master Teachers in order to improve instructional techniques and classroom management;
  • Provide administrative support including but not limited to copies, hallway duty, bathroom duty, organizing classroom materials, etc.
  • Fridays: Support with Aftercare by engaging students in fun activities. These activities will be provided by the Enrichment teacher/Pre-K Director
  • Participating in grade-level activities, and school-wide functions, events, and trips;
  • Providing consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior;
  • Supervising students during transitions, breakfast, lunch and afterschool;
  • Communicating effectively with students, families, and colleagues;

Job Description

Hours (Part Time): 20 hours per week

  • Monday - Thursday: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

  • Friday: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Compensation

Compensation for this role is $20 per hour.
