Job summary

Children’s Friend is seeking a Pre-K Teacher Assistant in Pawtucket, RI. The role supports a preschool classroom under the supervision of a Teacher.

The position requires an ECE degree or an equivalent combination with a Rhode Island approved Teacher Assistant Training program, RI RIELDS certification or plan to obtain within 12 months, and the ability to engage children in developmentally appropriate activities.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or equivalent and completion of a Rhode Island approved Teacher Assistant Training program.
• RI ELYDS (RIELDS) certificate required or have a plan to obtain within 12 months.
• Ability to organize and plan activities.
• Ability to establish warm, supportive relationships with children.
• Basic computer skills for data input and email.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teacher in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Support children’s learning through active engagement and guidance.
• Perform daily health observations and maintain child progress documentation.
• Help create a safe, welcoming, inclusive environment for children and families.

Reports To: Child Development Supervisor
Employment Type: Full-Time (Monday - Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm)

What You’ll Do:

What You Bring:

We’re hiring for multiple Teacher Assistant levels:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education OR an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree and successful completion of a Teacher Assistant Training program approved by the Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
• Hold a RI Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS) certificate relevant to the position OR have an individual professional development plan for achieving this requirement within 12 months of employment
• Ability to organize and plan activities
• Ability to establish warm, supportive relationships and provide a wide variety of stimulating and developmentally appropriate experiences for children
• Basic computer skills required for data input and use of email
• Knowledge of health, safety, and first aid
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
• Ability to work under the general supervision of the Teacher
• Successful completion of required pre-employment background screening
• Ability to provide documentation showing proof of all required medical clearances and immunizations
