Job summary

Children’s Friend is hiring a Pre-K Teacher Assistant in Pawtucket, RI to join a nurturing preschool program. You will assist teachers with curriculum, support children's learning, and help maintain a safe, inclusive classroom.

You’ll participate in health observations, family engagement, and professional development while contributing to a collaborative team dedicated to equitable early education. This is a full-time, on-site role.

Qualifications

• Possess an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
• Or possess an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree plus a Rhode Island TA training program.
• Hold RI ELD Standards (RIELDS) certificate or have a development plan within 12 months.
• Ability to organize and plan activities.
• Ability to foster warm, inclusive relationships with children.
• Basic computer skills for data input and email.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Pre-employment background screening clearance.
• Provide documentation showing proof of all required medical clearances and immunizations.

What You Bring:

We’re hiring for multiple Teacher Assistant levels:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education OR an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree and successful completion of a Teacher Assistant Training program approved by the Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
• Hold a RI Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS) certificate relevant to the position OR have an individual professional development plan for achieving this requirement within 12 months of employment
• Ability to organize and plan activities
• Ability to establish warm, supportive relationships and provide a wide variety of stimulating and developmentally appropriate experiences for children
• Basic computer skills required for data input and use of email
• Knowledge of health, safety, and first aid
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
• Ability to work under the general supervision of the Teacher
• Successful completion of required pre-employment background screening
• Ability to provide documentation showing proof of all required medical clearances and immunizations
