Qualifications

• Certified Para Professional credential or 48 hours college credit or pass paraprofessional test.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in educational process of the special needs students.
• Assist students to and from buses.
• Monitor students in isolation.
• Eat with students during lunch.
• Go out to recess with students when needed.
• Take students to and from the bathroom.
• Work with students one on one for tutoring.
• Assist regular teacher with grading papers.
• Assist with maintaining classroom materials.
• Assist wheelchair and physically handicapped student loading and unloading the bus.
• Assist physically handicapped students getting to other classes.
• Assist physically handicapped students with feeding and toilet needs.
• Assist special education students in mainstreamed classes when needed.
• Help with duplicating needed materials and special education forms when asked.
• Help bulletin boards.
• Take over the special education class when the teacher is absent.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by principal or teacher.
