Job summary

Education Service Center, Region 2 is seeking a Pre-K Paraprofessional to support a preschool classroom and help implement daily activities. This role focuses on nurturing development, assisting teachers, and fostering positive relationships with families and staff.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist the classroom teacher with implementing daily lesson plans and activities.
  • Support students individually and in small groups to reinforce academic and developmental skills.
  • Supervise children during classroom activities, recess, meals, restroom breaks, and transitions.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, safe, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Encourage positive behavior and model appropriate social and emotional skills.
  • Assist with preparing instructional materials, learning centers, and classroom displays.
  • Observe student progress and communicate observations to the classroom teacher.
  • Assist with assessments, recordkeeping, and documentation as directed.
  • Support students with personal care needs, including toileting, handwashing, and mealtime routines, as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
  • Communicate professionally and positively with families, staff, and administrators.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and required training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher or administrator.

Job Title: Pre-K Paraprofessional


Reports To: Pre-K Teacher and Campus Principal


FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Position Summary

The Pre-K Paraprofessional supports the classroom teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool-aged children. This position assists with instructional activities, classroom management, and the social, emotional, physical, and academic development of students while promoting positive relationships with children, families, and staff.


Essential Duties And Responsibilities


  • Assist the classroom teacher with implementing daily lesson plans and learning activities.

  • Support students individually and in small groups to reinforce academic and developmental skills.

  • Supervise children during classroom activities, recess, meals, restroom breaks, and transitions.

Qualifications


  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Associate degree or paraprofessional certification preferred (or as required by state/local regulations).

  • Experience working with preschool or early childhood-aged children preferred.

  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

  • Ability to pass required background checks.

Physical Requirements


  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor.

  • Ability to actively supervise young children indoors and outdoors.

  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.


Work Environment

Work is performed in a preschool classroom and outdoor play areas. The position requires active interaction with young children throughout the school day and may involve exposure to common childhood illnesses and varying weather conditions during outdoor activities.


Salary: Based on district salary schedule and experience.


Work Schedule: School calendar; typically 7-8 hours per day.
