Job summary

Rising Stars Day School in Virginia is seeking a full-time, year-round Pre-K Lead Teacher to lead the daily classroom routine, implement the curriculum, and supervise an assistant teacher. You will prepare materials, track progress, communicate with families, and maintain safety and licensing requirements while fostering social-emotional development and independent problem solving.

This role requires strong classroom management, reliable attendance, and the ability to collaborate with a Teaching

Qualifications

  • Meet all Virginia licensing education requirements.
  • Previous preschool/Pre-K teaching experience.
  • Experience with children ages 3–5.
  • Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate practices.
  • Ability to create and follow lesson plans.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Ability to lead and supervise an assistant teacher.
  • Strong communication skills with families and staff.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional.
  • Able to maintain required child-to-teacher ratios.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Complete required background checks and health requirements.
  • Ability to lift, bend, sit on the floor, and actively participate with children.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team.

Rising Stars Day School is seeking a full-time, year-round Pre-K Lead Teacher

Our open and free-flowing classrooms enable uninterrupted exploration, play and learning, and our outdoor space and time are valued just as highly as formal classrooms. We encourage children to explore, and most of the educational experiences take the form of projects, where they can actively participate and question things. Teachers are encouraged to observe children rather than to direct them.

Schedule

Monday-Friday 8:30am - 5:30pm (subject to change) with 1 hour of Lunch Break.

What You'll Do
Classroom
  • Lead the daily classroom routine.
