The ideal candidate will have a valid North Carolina Driver’s License, a Commercial Driver’s License with a passenger endorsement, and at least five years of experience working with children. This position requires completion of WorkKeys Assessments and offers a 10-month employment term.

Qualifications

• Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger school bus endorsement and current Driver’s Pocket Card.
• At least five (5) years of successful experience working with children or in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Drive a school bus as assigned, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and traffic laws.
• Assist the teacher of record by providing individualized and/or group instruction.
• Monitor and keep students on task with assigned work.

Skills

Knowledge of effective methods of working with children and their developmental stages

Working knowledge of core subjects at assigned grade levels

Familiarity with safety regulations, standards for school buses, and traffic laws

Skill in maintaining confidentiality and recording data accurately

Ability to operate a school bus and communicate effectively

Education

High School Diploma and ability to pass WorkKeys Assessments

Associate’s degree or 48 semester hours of college credit
