Pre-K Counts Teacher (Full-time, On-site, Norristown)

  • Competitive salary: $45,000 – $47,700 annual

  • Work environment: Our 4-Star Center classrooms are designed to be small with a dedicated teacher assistant by room, ensuring personalized attention for each student
  • Job Type: Full-time, 100% on-site at the Norristown location
  • Schedule: 8-hour day shift, Monday to Friday, no nights, no weekends. 10 months school year schedule. We prioritize personalized attention with a small number of students per class.

Education Requirements

  • Pennsylvania Pre-K Teaching Certification (required)
  • Pre-K Counts PA State Certification (required)
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, child development, special education, elementary education OR
  • 30 hours in the above categories and 3 years of experience

Role and Responsibilities

  • Develop a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children
  • Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children
  • Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
  • Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments
  • Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.)
  • Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are always safe
  • Track children’s progress and report to parents
  • Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children’s background and psyche
  • Collaborate with other educators
  • Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards

Skills

  • Proven experience as a Preschool Teacher
  • Proven experience in the Creative Curriculum
  • Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
  • Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
  • Excellent communication and instructional skills
  • Ability to act as mediator among children
  • Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
  • Balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen
  • Certification in child CPR
  • BSc/BA in education or relevant field
  • Valid license to practice profession
Special Notes
  • This position requires visual and auditory acuity and the physical ability to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, ramps, etc.
  • Must be able to adjust, lift, carry, or move objects up to 35 pounds in all directions.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods, walk, and work on your feet for a minimum of 6 hours at a time.

Must obtain the following three clearances:

  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Check.
