Experience and Qualifications:- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education
- Pennsylvania Early Childhood Certificate (Birth-Grade 3) or Early Elementary (Pre-K-4). Minimum Level I Certificate
- Act 34 Clearance, Act 151 Clearance, FBI Clearance (self-paid)
- Act 126 & Act 71 Training Certificates
- Drug Screening (self-paid)
- Letter of Interest, Resume and application on District website
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:- Demonstrate knowledge of early childhood theory, child development, developmentally appropriate practices and behavior management.
- Perform all necessary tasks to ensure a safe and supervised environment for students.
- Maintain a ratio of one (1) adult for every ten (10) students for effective supervision purposes at all times.
- Develop and implement differentiated, standards-based, developmentally appropriate lesson plans using a variety of educational strategies and learning activities in order to prepare students physically, cognitively and socially for Kindergarten.
- Participate and engage in professional development activities as required by the Pre-K Counts grant, as well as those required by law to maintain appropriate certification.
- Participate and engage in District professional development as directed by building of Pre-K Principal.
- Participate and engage in building faculty meetings.
- Maintain a professional and effective working relationship with the Assistant Teacher in the classroom and collaborate with the Assistant on planning and implementing learning activities.
- Monitor the progress of each student through the collection, organization and interpretation of student data and remediate as necessary to ensure maximum student growth and achievement.
- Establish and maintain standards for student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Maintain professional, ongoing communication with parents/guardians relating to student’s educational and social development.
- Work with grade and content-level teams as directed, to plan cooperatively for curriculum fidelity and instructional improvement.
- Prepare classroom materials that support daily lesson plans and learning activities prior to student’s arrival.
- Maintain strict confidentiality relating to students, their families and other staff members according to FERPA.
- Provide daily supervision and engagement of students during breakfast and lunch, as part of the required Pre-K curriculum and based on the Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards.
- Establish, communicate, maintain and consistently apply an effective classroom management plan to increase student engagement, efficiently use the available instructional time and minimize student disruption of the learning environment.
- Maintain and comply with all Pre-K Counts grant requirements.
- Demonstrate professionalism in both service to students and to the profession and comply with the Code of Professional Practice and Conduct for Educators and the legal standards and/or regulations related to professional conduct both in and out of the school environment.
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the building Principal, Pre-K Principal and other supervisory personnel.
