Job summary

Somerset Community Action Program is seeking a caring Pre-K Assistant Teacher to support the lead teacher in creating a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment for young children. You will assist with classroom instruction, provide individualized support, reinforce positive behavior, and help ensure smooth daily operations.

Responsibilities include supporting instruction, helping with routines and transitions, and collaborating with teachers and families to promote children's

Qualifications

• Minimum of 48 college credits or an Associate's degree.
• Experience working with children in school, childcare, or community settings preferred.
• Strong communication, patience, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Ability to engage with young children and assist with activities all day.
• Must pass background and fingerprint checks.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom instruction through small group and one-on-one activities.
• Assist children with assignments, routines, and developmental goals.
• Provide individualized support for diverse learning needs.
• Reinforce positive behavior and maintain a nurturing classroom environment.
• Supervise children during activities, meals, and outdoor play.
• Prepare learning materials and organize classroom spaces.
• Collaborate with teachers and families to support child development.
