Job summary

Dallas ISD is seeking a Generalist Teacher Assistant for Pre-K to support instructional activities and assist teachers with student supervision across campus. The role entails facilitating learning experiences, managing student flow, and maintaining classroom organization.

The candidate should hold a valid Texas educational aide certificate and have experience or training related to early childhood education.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree or 48 college credits or equivalent assessed.
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate required.
• Six months of related knowledge/skills or training preferred.
• Demonstrated initiative and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• General knowledge of child growth and behavior is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting intensified learning experiences and relieve the teacher of non-instructional duties.
• Assist in student arrival/departure management.
• Perform non-instructional supportive tasks for a certified teacher.
• Assist teachers and students in achieving program objectives.
• Maintain classroom discipline in the absence of the teacher.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Tutor students individually or in small groups.
• Supervise students in various areas (hall, lunchroom, auditorium, gym, playground).
• Prepare and maintain required administrative records and reports.
• Assist with copying, organizing, and filing materials for distribution.
• Assist with inventory and maintenance of equipment.
• Keep teacher informed of student needs or problems.
• Participate in staff development and faculty meetings.
