Description:

  1. Assist in conducting intensified learning experiences for students in assigned area and relieve certified teacher of various tasks that are primarily non-instructional in nature.
  2. Assist teacher and students in achieving the objectives of the program or activities.
  3. Maintain discipline in the absence of the teacher.
  4. Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow-up learning activities.
  5. Help students with their daily work and in finding activities appropriate for their homework.
  6. Review class activities and daily homework.
  7. Supervise class breakfast and lunch activities.
  8. Talk to parents to provide updates on the student's progress, homework, and social behavior.
  9. Distribute informative letters to parents regarding their child's progress.
  10. Assist in filing and organizing materials for record retention and distribution.
  11. Assist in maintaining student records, attendance, and files.
  12. Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.

Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. A remote working environment /alternate work arrangement is not an option for campus-based employees/campus-based positions because regular and punctual attendance at the worksite and performing all duties at the worksite are essential job duties for all campus-based personnel.

Qualifications:

  1. Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency), plus one of the following: Associate degree, 48 college credit hours, pass an academic assessment.
  2. Paraprofessional certificate required from State Board of Certification.
  3. One year of experience working with children.
  4. Demonstrated general knowledge of child growth/development and behavior characteristics.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse ethnic groups.
  6. Demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position.
  7. Demonstrated initiative and a willingness to follow verbal and written instructions.
  8. Demonstrated effective communication skills both in oral and written form.
  9. Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
  10. Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.
