Job summary

Morgan County Schools is seeking a PreK Assistant Teacher to support early childhood learning in the classroom. The role involves collaborating with the lead teacher, presenting lessons, and using TS Gold and other tech tools to enhance instruction.

Responsibilities include planning activities, guiding students in groups or individually, and fostering a respectful, engaging learning environment for diverse learners.

Qualifications

  • Be at least 19 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Possess a CDA OR 9 college credits in ECE/Child Development from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Possess at least one year of experience in early childhood or OSR-approved settings.

  • Discusses assigned teaching area with classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts.
  • Assists in presenting subject matter to students using various methods such as authentic learning experiences, discussion, and role playing.
  • Assist in TS Gold Assessment and other technology used to support classroom instruction and communication.
  • Assists students individually or in groups with lesson assignments to reinforce learning concepts.
  • Works with lead teacher to provide learning experiences that are meaningful and relevant for all students.
  • Implements appropriate instructional and assessment strategies with the lead teacher.
  • Motivates, engages, and maximizes student learning.
  • Plans, prepares, and develops teaching aids to support learning.
  • Follows supervisor directives and school board policy; collaborates with family and community.

Title: PreK Assistant Teacher
Immediate Supervisor: School Principal
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Be at least 19 years of age.

  2. Possess a high school diploma or GED.

  3. Possess a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) OR at least 9 credit hours of college coursework in the field of Early Childhood Education or Child Development from a regionally accredited institution.

  4. Possess appropriate experience (at least one year) working in early childhood or experience in other OSR approved settings.

Skills and Abilities:
  1. Demonstrates competency in the content knowledge including concepts, facts, skills, and tools of inquiry.

  2. Demonstrates understanding of child development.

  3. Displays knowledge and use of oral and written communication

  4. Ability to work with lead teacher to plan, prepare, and develop various developmentally appropriate activities that support learning.

  5. Ability to work well with parents of small children.

  6. Ability to work with children and families from diverse social, economic, and cultural backgrounds.

  7. Willing to attend training sessions as assigned.

  8. Ability to use technology as needed.

  9. Possesses physical ability to navigate the school and classroom

Essential Functions:

  6. Works with lead teacher to implement appropriate instructional and assessment strategies

  9. Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids that support learning.

  10. Follows all directives of immediate supervisor and Morgan County School Board policy in regard to professional conduct, duties, and responsibilities.

  11. Collaborates with family and community in the education of students.
