Pre-K Assistant Teacher
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage the daily classroom functions for a group of children.
- Follow all rules and regulations set by Ivywood Academy and relevant regulatory agencies regarding children's health, safety, and care.
- Implement approved lesson plans and daily schedules aligned with Ivywood Academy's curriculum.
- Create and maintain an attractive, organized classroom environment that promotes exploration and decision-making.
- Provide verbal recognition and set clear behavioral expectations for children.
- Handle classroom maintenance, housekeeping duties, and upkeep of common areas and playgrounds.
- Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the Ivywood Academy Employee Handbook.
- Assist in other duties as determined by the Director or designee.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Meet the basic requirements of the local child care regulatory agency.
- Previous experience in teaching or assistant teaching in a licensed early childhood program is preferred.
- Knowledge of the social, emotional, and creative needs of young children.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs for child safety and program facilitation; for Infant and Young Toddler teachers, ability to lift infants into and out of cribs.
- Educational qualifications:
- Lead Teacher Infant - Preschool: 2-year degree in early childhood or related field (preferred) or CDA, TCC, Associates, Bachelor’s degree.
- Assistant Teacher - Infant to Preschool: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Pre-Kindergarten Teachers: 4-year degree in early childhood or related field (required).
