Job summary

Kansas City Public Schools is seeking a Pre-K Before & After Care Program Lead for a part-time role in Kansas City, MO. The position supports the Pre-K extended day, ensures licensing compliance, and coordinates with school leadership, staff and families.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or equivalent, 2+ years of licensed childcare experience, and must obtain CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire. Background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a licensed childcare facility or early childhood setting.
• Certifications: Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.
• Clearances: Must pass all required background checks, including fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Monitor staff-to-child ratios to ensure licensing compliance.
• Provide float coverage to maintain ratios.
• Notify Pre-K leadership of safety concerns or needs for supplies.
• Maintain daily attendance, meal counts, and internal records.
• Ensure emergency contact information is current for each student.
• Support developmentally appropriate activities.
• Communicate with school leadership, staff and families.
• Uphold KCPS values and professional conduct; follow confidentiality policies.
• Follow district reporting guidelines for incidents of abuse or illness.
• Utilize district software effectively and complete paperwork on time.
