Job summary

CEMFI in Madrid invites applications for a Research Assistant (Pre-Doc) to support a project on gender inequality and labour markets, working with Dutch administrative microdata in CBS remote-access environment. The position is based at CEMFI and funded by Spanish and international partners.

Tasks include data construction, econometric analysis, and literature reviews. Qualifications include economics degree, knowledge of R and Stata, English proficiency, and ability to work legally in the EU.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree in economics or related fields.
• Knowledge of R and Stata.
• Excellent management and organizational skills.
• Meticulous, organized, and detail-oriented.
• Flexible, self-motivating, independent, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Proficient in English. Knowledge of Spanish is not required.
• Strong interest in academic research.
• Previous experience as a research assistant will be valued.
• Able to legally work in the European Union

Responsibilities

• Construction and analysis of large administrative microdata (Dutch CBS, in CBS remote-access environment)
• Reduced-form quasi-experimental analysis (event studies, difference-in-differences, IV, RDD; matched employer–employee / AKM methods where relevant)
• Empirical work on gender, social norms, and labour-market outcomes
• Conduct literature reviews and assist the PIs in other aspects of the project.
