Job description

Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.

We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.

We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.

If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.

About This Role:

As a Pre-Construction Manager at Crusoe, you will be a pivotal leader in the development of our hyperscale data center projects. You are responsible for the critical phase where vision meets reality, overseeing all pre-construction activities to ensure our projects are meticulously planned, budgeted, and scheduled for success. In this role, you will drive the initial phases of our most ambitious builds, setting the stage for the efficient, sustainable, and high-performance construction execution that defines Crusoe’s infrastructure.

This role demands a strategic thinker who can navigate the complexities of large-scale construction management while maintaining a keen eye for detail and a collaborative spirit. You will serve as the bridge between conceptual design and the first shovel in the ground, aligning diverse stakeholders—from architects and engineers to vendors and senior leadership—around a common goal. We are seeking a proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about building the mission‑critical infrastructure that powers the AI revolution. This is a full-time position.

What You’ll Be Working On:

  • Lifecycle Process Leadership: Lead and manage the comprehensive pre‑construction process, ensuring a seamless flow from conceptual design through to the commencement of onsite construction.

  • Strategic Planning & Budgeting: Develop and maintain high‑fidelity project schedules, multi‑million dollar budgets, and rigorous risk assessments to ensure project feasibility and financial integrity.

  • Multidisciplinary Coordination: Orchestrate efforts between architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure technical alignment and maximum operational efficiency.

  • Site Feasibility & Evaluation: Execute thorough site evaluations and feasibility studies to validate infrastructure readiness and environmental compatibility for our hyperscale campuses.

  • Bidding & Contract Management: Oversee the preparation of detailed bid packages, manage the competitive bidding process, and lead contract negotiations with key vendors.

  • Regulatory & Permitting Oversight: Manage the end‑to‑end permitting process, securing all necessary approvals and ensuring strict compliance with building codes and environmental standards.

  • Risk Mitigation & Reporting: Proactively identify and resolve potential project challenges, providing regular, data‑driven progress reports and strategic updates to senior management.

  • Construction Transition: Collaborate closely with the construction execution team to facilitate an expert handoff, ensuring a smooth transition from planning to active build phases.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • Proven Pre‑Construction Expertise: Minimum of 7 years of professional experience managing the pre‑construction phases of large‑scale construction projects.

  • Large‑Scale Project Success: A documented track record of successfully delivering planning phases for high‑complexity builds, ideally within the hyperscale data center or mission‑critical sectors.

  • Project Management Mastery: Exceptional organizational and analytical skills, with a focus on precision in budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.

  • Communication & Negotiation Power: Strong ability to engage, influence, and negotiate with diverse stakeholders to build and maintain effective, long‑term partnerships.

  • Technical Literacy: A deep, fundamental understanding of modern construction processes, materials, and heavy industrial methods.

  • Digital Fluency: High proficiency in construction management software and advanced project scheduling tools.

  • Mandatory Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Bonus Points:

  • Mission‑Critical Background: 10+ years of experience specifically within data center infrastructure or high‑voltage power projects.

  • Professional Certifications: Holding a PMP, LEED AP, or equivalent industry‑recognized certification.

  • Sustainability Passion: Experience or strong interest in incorporating sustainable materials and energy‑efficient designs into the pre‑construction phase.

  • Advanced Degree: A Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Business Administration (MBA).

  • AI Infrastructure Enthusiasm: A demonstrated passion for the growth of AI and the computing infrastructure required to support its future.

Benefits:
