Job summary

Sterling Construction Company, Inc. is seeking a motivated student for an estimating-oriented role in San Antonio, TX. You will support quantity takeoffs, bid preparation, and reviewer of bid documents while learning to read complex construction plans and specifications.

You’ll gain hands-on exposure to CAD, BIM, and estimating software, and collaborate with veterans on pre-construction activities, including site layouts and project discussions.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist the estimating team with quantity takeoffs and bid preparation.
• Learn to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
• Assist with reviewing bid documents and project requirements.
• Help gather and organize subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Support estimators with cost information and bid documentation.
• Gain exposure to CAD, BIM, and estimating software used by the team.
• Assist with preparing drawings, layouts, reports, and supporting materials.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and project discussions when appropriate.
• Learn how estimators evaluate project scope, quantities, costs, and potential risks.
• Work with experienced construction professionals and gain exposure to the full pre-construction process.
