Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed construction cost estimates and budgets.
• Review drawings, specifications, and project documents.
• Develop quantity takeoffs and analyze labor, materials, and subcontractor costs.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing.
• Identify scope gaps, risks, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Collaborate with Project Management, Technology, and Operations teams.
• Support proposals, bid preparation, and pre-construction activities.

Design and Production Incorporated (D&P) is a respected, long-established exhibit design and fabrication company headquartered in Lorton, Virginia, just outside Washington, DC. Founded in 1949, D&P brings together design, engineering, fabrication, technology, and installation under one roof to create complex, immersive experiences for museums, cultural institutions, visitor centers, and other high-profile clients

In this role, you will help transform design concepts into executable project plans by developing detailed estimates, reviewing plans and specifications, evaluating subcontractor and supplier pricing, and collaborating with project teams to identify scope, costs, risks, and opportunities.

What You'll Do

• Prepare detailed construction cost estimates and budgets.
• Review drawings, specifications, and project documents.
• Develop quantity takeoffs and analyze labor, materials, and subcontractor costs.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing.
• Identify scope gaps, risks, and cost-saving opportunities.

What We're Looking For

• Experience in construction estimating, pre-construction, engineering, or a related field.
• Strong ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong follow-through.
• Proficiency with estimating and construction software.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
