DM Construction is seeking a Pre-Construction Engineer in Colorado to support planning, estimating, and coordination of projects before work begins. You will work with project managers, estimators, superintendents, and clients to ensure precise pre-construction planning and ready-to-execute documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CM/ Civil Eng or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in construction, estimating, or pre-construction.
• Proficient in Excel (Pivot tables, formulas, data analysis).
• Experience with estimating takeoff software (Onscreen, Bluebeam, ProCore).
• Strong communication, organization, and time management.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing project estimates, budgets, and cost analyses.
• Develop and maintain project budgets and schedules in Excel.
• Review plans and bid documents for completeness and accuracy.
• Coordinate with project managers, estimators, superintendents, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Prepare bid packages and assist with bid submissions.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and material calculations.
• Track project documents, revisions, RFIs, and submittals.
• Participate in project handoff meetings and ensure all pre-construction documentation is complete.
• Identify potential project risks and communicate concerns to management.
• Maintain organized electronic and paper project files.
• Support continuous improvement of pre-construction processes and documentation.

Job Summary

The Pre-Construction Engineer is responsible for supporting the planning, estimating, and coordination of construction projects before work begins. Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred (or equivalent construction experience).
• Minimum of 5 years of construction, estimating, project engineering, or pre-construction experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, plans, and specifications.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, sorting/filtering, pivot tables, and data analysis.
• Experience with estimating takeoff software (Onscreen, Bluebeam, ProCore)
• Commercial Construction Field Experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
