ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Contact patients before appointments to verify demographic and insurance information.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
  • Obtain prior authorizations or referrals when required.
  • Review patient balances, copays, deductibles, and coinsurance.
  • Estimate patient out-of-pocket expenses.
  • Collect copayments, deposits, or pre-service payments.
  • Explain financial policies and payment options to patients.
  • Document all patient communications and insurance verification in the medical record or practice-management system.
  • Coordinate with providers, scheduling, billing, and registration teams to resolve issues before the patient's appointment.
  • Identify missing or inaccurate information that could delay billing or reimbursement.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements.
  • Provide professional customer service while handling sensitive financial and medical information.
  • Other duties as assigned.
