The immediate vacancy is with the Department of Accounting & General Services in Downtown.

Salary: $4,221 - $5,338 per month (SR-15, Step C to I)

Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.

Supervises and participates in performing the full range of pre-auditing work in the State's central agency; examines all contracts prior to certification of funds by the comptroller; reviews and controls Electronic Data Processing input and output data; or supervises the full range of clerical pre-auditing work in a large department involving vouchered claims and/or payroll claims for compliance with Federal, State and/or departmental laws, regulations, rules, policies and procedures; and perform other related duties as assigned.

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
  • Legal Authorization to Work Requirement: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
  • Specialized Experience: Two years of responsible clerical work experience in the preparation and processing of payroll documents/forms and/or in the preparation and processing of vouchers, invoices and statements. Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of arithmetic and required the ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions; communicate orally and in writing; and make arithmetic computations.
  • Pre-Audit Experience: Two years of progressively responsible work experience which involved the examination and verification of payroll documents/forms, invoices, vouchers, statements and other request for payment for completeness, accuracy, legality, and propriety.
  • Supervisory Aptitude: For the Pre-Audit Clerk III level, supervisory aptitude rather than actual supervisory experience may be accepted. Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader, or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.
