Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a Pre-Arrival Associate (Scheduling) for MRI. This role handles scheduling of outpatient procedures, collects demographics and insurance data, and works within Epic to ensure accurate orders and financial screening.

The position requires flexibility in schedule, 6:30a-7:00p shifts, and is 24 hours per week with weekends and days support. Prior hospital registration experience is valued and CHAA or related certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• CPT-4 and ICD-9/10 knowledge recommended

Responsibilities

• Obtain complete and accurate patient demographic, financial and insurance information
• Perform scheduling functions in Epic
• Schedule all appointments per department schedules
• Validate written orders as per policy
• Collect patient co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances
• Complete a financial screen for self-pay accounts
• Flex schedule to meet department demands
• Maintain or exceed department goals
• Complete Epic work queues daily
• Complete accounts in AHIQA daily
• Other duties as assigned

General Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Patient Access Manager, the scheduling associate is responsible for the scheduling of outpatient procedures by obtaining demographic, financial, and insurance information from patients and/or their representatives.

Requirements

1. High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
2. College Education: 1-2 years preferred.
3. Certified Healthcare Associate Certification (CHAA) preferred.
4. 2-3 years prior experience in Hospital, Medical Registration/Billing experience required or equivalent medical schooling.
5. Medical Terminology preferred.
6. Knowledge of CPT-4 and ICD-9/10 recommended.
7. Coding certification preferred.
8. Epic certification a plus.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Responsible to obtain complete and accurate patient demographic, financial and insurance information.
