The Pre Anesthesia Assessment Nurse at University Health Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, MO, partners with anesthesia providers to plan and organize care for scheduled surgeries, gathering clinical information for safe anesthesia and efficient throughput.

You will review outside records, coordinate with Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Pulmonology, and provide patient education on perioperative prep and what to expect during the surgical stay.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited RN nursing program.
• Current Missouri RN license or eligible for Missouri licensure.
• BCLS and ACLS certification (BCLS required for ASC staff).
• 2-3 years’ experience in peri-operative setting.
• 1-2 years med/surg or ICU experience.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain interactive/interpersonal relationships.
• Strong communication, nursing assessment, critical thinking, and teaching skills.
• Proficiency with health care software and Windows applications.

Responsabilités

• Collaborate with anesthesia providers to plan and organize care for scheduled surgeries.
• Coordinate care with a multidisciplinary team and review outside records as needed.
• Provide patient education on preoperative preparations and what to expect during the surgical stay.
• Support efficient OR throughput and minimize delays and cancellations.
• Demonstrate professional demeanor and ability to work in a team-based ambulatory surgery setting.
