Job summary

HCA Florida Gainesville Hospital is seeking an experienced RN for pre- and post-operative care in a dynamic surgical team. You will evaluate patients prior to surgery, educate families about procedures, and manage IV therapy, preoperative meds, and site verification.

Qualifications

• RN license or compact state license required within state of employment.
• Registered Nurse Diploma completion is required.
• BCLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including IV therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while applying evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including providers and surgical staff.
• Apply the nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe nursing care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor during shift, and document changes and care provided.
